    Third ClubhouseTexas Summit held during COVID outbreak – held virtually through Zoom.

  • 2019 Initial Meeting in Tyler

    A group from Tyler, Texas reached out to SA Clubhouse. Further interest was developed and started building support to open a Clubhouse in Tyler.

  • 2019 2 Clubhouse Openings

    CH Texas began meeting with an interest group from Alice, Texas that wanted to start a Clubhouse in that community. Interest continued to grow, and in August 2019, a traditional day program in Alice transitioned to become a Clubhouse. Cowtown also opens in Ft. Worth, Texas in October.

  • Feb 2018 New Hope Clubhouse Opens

    New Hope Clubhouse in Brownwood opens in February of 2018.

  • Nov 2017 Reinvestment from Mental Health Funders Collaborative

    The Funders Collaborative invited us to re-apply for a project focused on financial sustainability. Through this $29K project, we explored the possibility of accessing Medicaid as a funding source for Texas Clubhouses (not an option today); the possibility of having Clubhouse members serve in Peer Support roles (now happening); the possibility of having Clubhouses work with the Texas Workforce Commission (pilot project is in the works as of June 2020); the possibility of deploying AmeriCorps volunteers into Clubhouses (pilot project is in the works as of October 2019).

  • Nov 2017 New Clubhouse Development Training

    Clubhouse International faciliated a New Clubhouse Development (NCD) training with the San Antonio Clubhouse. In attendance were: New Hope Clubhouse (Brownwood, TX), Hope Fort Bend (Richmond, TX), Cowtown Clubhouse (Ft. Worth, TX), and Everett Clubhouse (Everett, WA).

  • 2017 Initial Meeting in Ft. Worth

    CH Texas began meeting with a group from Ft. Worth, Texas which would eventually lead to a Clubhouse opening in that community.

  • 2017 Second ClubhouseTexas Summit

    The second ClubhouseTexas summit was held at the San Antonio Clubhouse.

  • 2017 Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation Grant

    After meeting with the SA Clubhouse, a foundation in McAllen, Texas (Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation) offers SA Clubhouse a grant to provide training allowing three traditional day centers in the Rio Grande Valley to transition into Clubhouse model programs.

    The following Clubhouses opened their doors to their communities: Pavilion Clubhouse (Round Rock) in October PLAN Clubhouse (Dallas) in August

  • Nov 2016 Investment from Funders Collaborative

    In 2016, we were approached by the Texas Mental Health Collaborative Fund (TMHCF), at the time supported by Episcopal Health Foundation, St. Davids Foundation, Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation, Georgetown Health, and the Hogg Foundation. Their goal: to fund innovative, solution-oriented projects designed to promote high-impact mental health interventions, system improvements, or better mental health policy in Texas. An initial investment of $77K resulted in technical assistance to over 20 groups; the development of the Clubhouse Strengths Assessment evaluation tool; training on the Clubhouse model, and how to evaluate our own performance.

  • Sept 2016 Changing name to ClubhouseTexas

    As part of the US Clubhouse conference, representative of the Texas Clubhouse Coalition met with representatives from Clubhouse International. We were advised that many Coalitions around the world were moving to a more common naming structure, and we were asked if we would consider similarly changing our name. SInce then, we've referred to our work as ClubhouseTexas instead of the "Texas Clubhouse Coalition".

  • 2016 Initial Meetings in McKinney, Dallas, and Round Rock

    SA Clubhouse began meeting with working groups in McKinney and Dallas, Texas. Both groups had an interest in starting a Clubhouse in their communities. Visits were made to these communities, followed by information-gathering and training visits to SA Clubhouse. Both communities began working on plans to open Clubhouses. CH Texas also began meeting with a group from Round Rock, Texas who had an interest in starting a Clubhouse in that community.

  • 2016 Clubhouse Openings in Sugarland and San Angelo

    San Angelo Clubhouse opens in San Angelo, Texas (October) and Hope Fort Bend Clubhouse opens its doors in Sugarland, Texas (November).

  • Jun 2016 First ClubhouseTexas Summit

    Held at the SA Clubhouse, the First ClubhouseTexas Summit included participants from around Texas. There were 9 communities in attendance, with the following groups subsequently forming Clubhouses: San Angelo Clubhouse, Hope Fort Bend, and Pavilion Clubhouse.

  • Sept 2015 Initial meeting at St. Joseph House

    This first meeting of the "Texas Clubhouse Coalition" focused on planning for how we could work together to expand the reach of Clubhouses in Texas, and how to make us all stronger. At this meeting, the Austin and Houston clubhouses asked the San Antonio Clubhouse to lead the Texas Clubhouse Coalition.

  • 2015 Funding for Austin Clubhouse

    SA Clubhouse gave a Clubhouse presentation to the St. David’s Foundation in Austin, on behalf of Austin Clubhouse. This led to significant funding being awarded to Austin Clubhouse.

  • 2015 Initial Meetings in Dallas and Sugarland

    PLAN of North Texas, a mental health program in Dallas, reached out to SA Clubhouse to learn more about their work. After several meetings, they made the decision to convert a traditional day program they were operating into a Clubhouse. SA Clubhouse began meeting with individuals in Sugarland, Texas, who had an interest in starting a Clubhouse. They began building support for their Clubhouse.

  • 2014 Initial Meeting in San Angelo

    On the advice of Methodist Healthcare Ministries, SA Clubhouse reached out to the CEO of Concho Valley MHMR Services in San Angelo, Texas. SA Clubhouse was invited to San Angelo to speak on behalf of Clubhouses to the CEO's leadership team. After that initial meeting, Concho Valley began working on a plan to create a Clubhouse in San Angelo.

  • 2008 Austin Clubhouse Opens

    In 2007, a group in Austin, Texas comprised of family members and members of the local NAMI chapter reached out to SA Clubhouse to learn about the Clubhouse mental health recovery model. After various visits between the cities, the Austin Clubhouse was founded in 2008.

  • Aug 2003 San Antonio Clubhouse opens

    Led by Mark Stoeltje, the SA Clubhouse opens its doors to 5 members.
